Go ClimateActive! - take local action on climate change
The Forest of Avon has launched its ClimateActive! programme to help businesses and individuals take local action to combat the global effects of climate change.
ClimateActive! is the Forest of Avon's programme for local action on climate change. It is based on two simple objectives -
- To help you get active by doing something yourself on climate change.
- To act locally on climate change and improve the environment and quality of life for all in the Forest of Avon.
Firstly, do something yourself!
The first thing to do to help with climate change is to make changes yourself.
ClimateActive! Life has tips on easy things you can do to achieve a lower carbon lifestyle and local links to help you make the changes!
Secondly, support our ClimateActive! projects
We work locally to:
- Raise awareness and help people take action on climate change
- Reduce carbon emissions by helping people live lower carbon lifestyles
- Plant trees to help adapt to the impacts of climate change
- Improve the environment and quality of life for all

ClimateActive! is not a carbon offset programme. It encourages people to make changes on a personal level and to make a direct contribution at a local level that will lead to improvements in the environment and quality of life for everybody in the Forest of Avon.
ClimateActive! also encourages and enables individuals and businesses to make donations to the work that the Forest of Avon is doing to counteract the effects of climate change. A number of local businesses have already made significant contributions.
Money donated is used to donate trees for planting by local and community groups and schools; plant trees in parks and open spaces; fund our educational and environmental awareness work; raise awareness of environmental issues and how to change our impact on the environment from a negative to a positive one.
At a time when people are beginning to wonder if carbon offset really works and whether donating to large, remote organisations is really effective – the Forest of Avon ClimateActive! programme gives them the chance to see the positive result of their contribution to their local environment.
