Community Forest Path Sets the Pace

Chris Smart became the first person to complete the Green Man Challenge on Sunday the 30th of September by running the entire 45 miles of the Forest of Avon Community Forest Path in 11hours and 38 minutes.

Chris, from Long Ashton, who completed the challenge as part of his training for the Original Mountain Marathon described the path as 'well marked throughout much of its route' and found the route description to be 'very accurate'.

The Green Man Challenge is the brainchild of Chris Bloor, Routemaster of the Town and Country Harriers., who chose the path as a tour de force of Bristol with wonderful running trails and paths right on the doorstep of the city.

Chris ran the route anti-clockwise, starting and finishing at Ashton Court and taking in Dundry, Compton Dando, Keynsham, Hambrook, Easter Compton, Spaniorum Hill, Blaise and the Downs on his way round.

The Community Forest Path is a multi-user trail (you don't have to ba a marathon runner to enjoy it!) and is broken up into six convenient sections with many access points that can be reached on public transport.
