Golden Valley, Wick
A mixture of diverse habitats can be found at Golden Valley - there are mature woodlands and limestone grassland which is excellent for wildflowers and butterflies in the spring and summer months. Also the river Boyd runs through the valley, making for scenic wetland habitats within parts of the former ochre works.

Work will soon be underway to create new accessible routes throughout the Golden Valley.
How to get there...
The main entrance is off the A420 which is the High Street in Wick. Car parking is available at the Village Hall, and disabled parking is at the Carpenter's Arms pub.
