Huckford Quarry

Picture of Huckford QuarrySituated near Winterbourne, Huckford Quarry has lain dormant for over sixty five years. As a result, the landscape has developed into a diverse habitat, running alongside the river Frome. It's a small site which is great for ferns and other damp loving plants. You can see interesting rock surfaces, containing carboniferous plant fossils, ripple marks and mud pebble marks in the rock faces.

Access

Work has been carried out recently to improve the stone pathways to the site, although in the quarry, there are some sloping and unsurfaced paths.

How to get there...

You can get to Huckford Quarry via the Frome Valley Walkway at Winterbourne.
