 Severn Way
The Severn Way is one of the longest marked walking trails in Britain – at 210 miles long, it traces the Severn Valley from source to sea, passing through Gloucester, Worcester, Bridgnorth, Telford, Shrewsbury and Newton.
The Severn Way Bristol link is a footpath from the city centre, that links up to the Severn Way. The Bristol link follows the north bank of Bristol’s historic docks offering views of the SS Great Britain, John Cabot’s ‘Matthew’ and the famous Suspension Bridge. The route then passes through the Avon gorge, splits – giving the walker the option of Avonmouth Village or the woodlands of Kingsweston estate, before meeting up again at the Severn Estuary.
Access
The Severn Way is a mixture of pavements and field footpaths.
How to get onto the route...
In Bristol the route of this trail runs along the Portway, but you can also start the walk at Penpole Hill in Shirehampton, or at Severn Beach in South Gloucestershire.
